Dr. Steele and Sandy go to Roatan!

From November 15-30, the intrepid Dr. Steele (or "La Machina" to her World Vets co-volunteers) teams up with Sandy again for some spay/neuter fun on the island of Roatan, Honduras. The goal: to "fix" as many pets as they can over several days of clinics, and then relax a bit with some SCUBA. Follow along on their adventures!

Heading to Roatan! First leg of the trip!

November 14, 2014

Worked all day, raced around doing last minute tasks over lunch, managed to leave the clinic right at 5pm!!  Luckily, even though there was heavy traffic driving to Tacoma, there were never delays getting to Sandy’s house.  Pulled into her driveway, transferred bags to her vehicle, then off to our park and ride.

I made the parking reservations, not realizing that the lot was in Renton… a 30 minute drive from Sandy’s house, then back tracking back to the airport.  Oops!  They only have a shuttle at the top of the hour and we were not going to make it.  Double oops!

We arrived a few minutes past 8pm, and there had not been a shuttle yet, so they took us to the airport right away!  Whew!  Easy check in, a relaxing glass of wine (or two!) and a snack prior to our flight to Houston.  Night flight: hope we can catch a few winks of sleep!

Let the adventure begin!
